Thumbnailer for directories

Why does it have to come from the applications, rather than being separate
plugins like we have now?
Well, the problem with a Tortoise-like SVN-status indicator is that it's an overlay
on top of the previews (and for all files, not only those with a preview already),
which doesn't fit into the current thumbnailer design at all (but rather
it fits with the KFileItem "overlay" stuff, which doesn't support plugins).

Anyway, unrelated to thumbnails for directories -- which do fit into the
current kio_thumbnail design IMHO (one mimetype, no overlays).
