So that you can use yet-unported kde3 apps in a kde4 environment. Like
k3b. and at kde4.0 (and 4.1) release time, also koffice and many other
apps.

This means that kdelibs from kde3 needs to be coinstallable with kde4
(kdebase/runtime kdepimlibs kdelibs)
