If you don't mind I'm adding my comments to the bugreport. But short
story is: Yes I do have such multimedia keys and setup some of them for
kmix (to mute and +/- volume obviously).

I wonder wether the new kded service for shortcuts is really worth all
this hassle. Seriously. Maybe its just me, but somehow the kde3 version
of global shortcuts _works_ a lot better (even though its probably not
so nice API/code).

I guess the next step is to make the release team aware of this and make
sure this is considered a showstopper bug for the 4.1 release.
