this is the very important ballance point imho: there is a lot of great stuff 
already there.

as such, there's enough good stuff to talk about, show and point to.

which mitigates the whole chicken-little scenario.

and yes, OSVs are completely free to decide to integrate bits of 4 into 3. 
SUSE is already doing that in fact.
