Thanks, this is no problem: I can adjust this until the end of this week with 
very little code changes in Dolphin. I also agree that the API change in 
KFileItemDelegate is very unintrusive.

From my point of view I'd appreciate it if you could commit the patch 
today :-) As David mentioned already: the 3rd of October is quite near and as 
far as I know only Dolphin uses this feature currently -> no objections from 
my side...
