In the meantime; would it be an idea to use ogg123 (or its libs) directly?
i.e. write a very very simple phonon backend that can only playback oggs.
I have to note that not being able to play our gui interaction sounds
doesn't seem that high a priority IMOHO. More a nice-to-have.
