Looks good. After I sent my last mail to this thread and turned down the computer 
I realized that the real solution is indeed a proxy style. It's exactly what we want:
to tune one thing that is normally controlled by styles without having to use
a CSS stylesheet (which obviously isn't meant for this kind of thing).

Which fix do you expect TT to make about this? It is a _documented_ issue
that the CSS stylesheet takes control over the widget's font, and one that has
already been debated with TT so I don't expect a change there.
We want setFont to work, so the solution is simple, not using CSS.
