RFC: Making focus information visible for panes

Yes, I know. I do also run into this from time to time. If you have a 
suggestion how to fix this, the please speak up. The quick search 
should probably automatically lose focus if the main window loses focus 
(?) or if the user didn't enter anything for 10 seconds (?).
