Why not starting this now ? Are there any requirements and/or design ideas,
which could be collected and dicsussed, based on a class model, sequence
diagramms and so one for the main tasks perhaps using umbrello ? I can
contribute my requirements based on recent audio code implementation and the
code I have for the cygwin port.

For kde3 this initial implementation could be linked static into kdecore and
replace recent KAudioPlayer/Knotify audio code may be wrapped by an extended
audio playing class.

The kdemm dir should initial be located as subdir of kdecore and may be later
placed in a separate sub dir.

Any comments ?
