perhaps when you use the word "session" for the first time, refer to it as a 
"desktop session". 

after reading your's and martijn's mails, i concur that "session" is indeed a 
good word for it, but i worry that average users don't know what a session 
is. most users don't even know the term "session management". if they did, it 
could give them a hint as to what "session" refers to. i'd wager that for 
many "session" is new vocabulary when it comes to KDE.

but if we say "You have chosen to open another desktop session..." (note the 
use of the word desktop) then it should be quite clear. the rest of the text 
can then safely use just the word "session" ...
