spit and polish

Hi!

I just installed a fresh KDE CVS and I must it is really looking
beautiful. Wonderful job!

Some points (I'm willing to take care of all this):

(1) I noticed that the colours default to yellow if KPersonalizer is
cancelled. Can we change it to the usual blue? Otherwise this
makes it out of sync with KControl's idea of the default and can
    be confusing.

Speaking of which, this is not the first time that I've noticed
that KControl's idea of default is out of sync with the rest of
the desktop's idea about the defaults. Many times this has been
fixed in CVS for various cases, but invariably things get out of
    sync again.

Can this be fixed at an architectural level? For example, by
keeping all defaults are kept in a central location and apps that
need to know the defaults access this location (whether at
compilation time or runtime is debatable but compile time is good
    enough).

(2) Another out of sync option: Konqueror WWW does not "underline on
hover" as default even though KControl (and I) thinks it should.

(3) Can we turn off underlining on the desktop and KFM by default? It
just doesn't look good typographically and is not necessary
because we have hover highlighting behaviour anyway.

(4) Can the KControl icon in Kicker be replaced by our wonderful
"Preferences" special button by default? As a special bonus, the
    Kicker icon looks much better!

(5) Can Konqueror (WWW) and Kate be re-added to Kicker by default?

(6) The systray is empty by default, beloved Klipper is gone. If it's
empty perhaps it should not appear.

I just noticed that running klipper does not get it added properly
to the systray the first time invoked with Add->Applet->Klipper.
It does get added when invoked from the command-line though.

(7) Several icons seem to look jagged. (already noted)

(8) The konsole icons in the Konsole toolbar look weird as green
    IMHO. (already noted)

Bugs (bug reports to follow later if necessary):

(1) KHTML complains about not being able to fetch a file due to a
malformed URL if the "File Attachment (Optional)" on
    http://dot.kde.org/addPostingForm is left empty.

(2) Hmmm, probably a problem with my setup but www.kde.org appears
zoomed out (too small) by default. Zooming it looks good.

Like I said, nothing but nits and trying to put the best foot forward.
And I'm willing to do take care of all these things myself once CVS is
open.

KDE 3.1 is really looking wicked folks! Many previous issues I noted
a few months ago are gone! The KControl reorg is a great improvement.
Keramik is really sweet. The new TAB feature is great. I noticed
some error messages really improved too. No crashes or serious bugs
so far. :-)

Cheers,
Navin.
