just as a side note: this doesn't necessarily mean less options. for example, 
in the kicker config i found a few places where it was possible to replace 
whole collections of widgets with just one or two new widgets without losing 
any configurability.

we may also want to think about adding an "Advanced" button as a standard 
button to the KCModule class to encourage use of such things.
