The other day I saw on television, a program that made a fragment, to you=
ng=20
inventors.
It was a mexican program (in spanish) and among the 4 inventions, there w=
ere 2=20
oriented to help handicpaed people.
One was a stick for blind people, with some kind a buzzer that detected t=
he=20
presence of objects, nice idea but the stick could have use a little bit =
of=20
design since it was hard to handle.
The invetion that impressed me most was a globe, with some sensors, conne=
cted=20
to a electric circuit that was conected to a computer running a program w=
ith=20
a TTS. What it did was read the mouse gestures and translage the hand sig=
ns=20
messages that people that can't talk or hear use into syntethized words. =
I=20
think that was a brilliant idea.
I was made using Ms Windows and Visual Basic so I don't know how free/ope=
n=20
thinkers they are, but if they made available the specs of the globe and =
the=20
circuits and the source code of the program, it would be kewl to make a p=
ort=20
to Linux. Maybe even using some special gestures integrated into KMouth, =
that=20
could be really kewl :)
In fact, a whole interface using globes would be nice.
Thanks.
