That's sad. Usually, if there are no answer or maintainer and if the person
is willing to do a bit of the technical handling, we ask this person to
become a one-person team until more people come. That's a bit more
difficult for the first one to handle the translation until other people
come but one has to start it else no one will follow and try to improve the
translation for this language.

That's possible, I already handle the po files for multiple languages so
feel free to send them to me once translated and I'll handle the technical
part.
Do you need help setting up an environnement to translate and which files
are to be translated?

We let the packagers handle the dependencies how they want. For example,
Ubuntu has one package for the gcompris-qt executable (
https://packages.ubuntu.com/lunar/gcompris-qt) and one for the activities (
https://packages.ubuntu.com/lunar/gcompris-qt-data) but none for the audio
voices.
OpenSUSE, on its side, has a package for all the audio voices (
https://software.opensuse.org/package/gcompris-qt-voices) in addition of
one for gcompris-qt and one for the activities.

We already though about a FAQ page but didn't took the time to create one
(there are other questions that are recurring like: "why is it not
available for iOS and/or amazon store?")
