I very much recommend *not* using Comic Sans; it’s wholly inappropriate.
What I do strongly recommend is Andika:

Andika is a sans serif, Unicode-compliant font designed
especially for literacy use, taking into account the needs of
beginning readers. The focus is on clear, easy-to-perceive
letterforms that will not be readily confused with one another.

I think Andika is easy to read, has nice, friendly letterforms and
several nice touches. For example the b and d characters and the p and q
characters are not mirror images of each others, making it much harder
to confuse them. It currently does not include an italic or bold
variant, however.
