If it helps, I've been seeing the same problem for months now, but it's 
intermittent for me.  I'm using freenx (actually, to be fair, it's "neatx" in 
this case, so the problem is likely not specifically caused by freenx itself)
to access a KDE session that periodically shows the font color problem.

I would guess this is some kind of bug in one of the core NX related libraries 
or programs somewhere.
