It definitely did not.

There is a possibility it left the original greeter visible slightly
longer, but that's it.

I would suggest comparing the pam files you had for the other display
manager with this one.

It's also not necessarily PAM, one signifcant place lightdm and SDDM differ
is this sources files in /etc/Xesssion whereas LightDM doesn't (though it's
configurable in both) adding debug to your pam_winbind pam line might help.
