slowness when applying metadata

Hi  Frederic,

I can't think of anything that could be causing this in digiKam at the moment;
at least, there are no other current bug reports. A test here with a Windows10
machine shows no abnormalities when writing metadata.

What are your current metadata settings in digiKam?

Are you writing only to images or sidecars, or both?

Is your collection on a network drive, HDD, or SSD?

Do you use ExifTool to write metadata?

It would be interesting to see a DebugView log to see if there are any
database locks.
