Hello all,
This message is like a message in a bottle thrown into the sea. I hope many
of you will read it 🙏 !

I need your help to improve the current digiKam Manual which I have been
translating for a month and a half into French (*see below an important
note*), I made a lot of progress in the Manual (and also around...) but
some chapters are indicated "TO DO" or else do not correspond to the
product (problems of updating the documentation according to evolutions of
the functions), but translating "TO DO" into "Ă  faire" does not add
much 😀 that is why I would like those who regularly use the functions
listed below that you describe them (in english) on the functional aspect
and add the related screenshots (the theme I used is "GrayCard"). *I don't
have the skills to describe them properly.* Here are the different chapters
to describe (you can choose one of them or more...), obviously these
descriptions will also most likely be of interest to the KDE documentation
team:

    • Chapter “Captions” → “Information Views” (§2.2.6.1) with a screenshot
of a well-documented example
    • Chapter "Metadata Settings" → "Views Settings" (§2.9.6.5) with a
screenshot of a well-documented example
    • Chapter “Image Editor Settings” → “Raw default Settings” (§2.9.8.5)
        ◦ "Do not stretch or rotate pixels"
        ◦ "Quality:" complete or repeat the explanation...
        ◦ "Pass:"
        ◦ "Refine interpolation" complete the explanation...
        ◦ "Method" resume explanation...
        ◦ "Exposure Correction (E.V)"
        ◦ "Correct false colors in highlights"
        ◦ “Auto Brightness”
        ◦ "Noise Reduction" may need to be completed
    • "Color Negative Tool" (§3.2.3.11)
    • "Lens Auto Correction Tool" (§3.2.4.11)
    • “The Edge Effect” (§ 3.2.7.3.4)
    • “The Lut3D Effect” (§3.2.7.3.5)
    • Chapter 8 "Panorama Tool" with an example
    • Chapter 10 “Expoblending Tool”
    • Chapter "The Maintenance Features" → "The Metadata Synchronizer Tool"
(§12.2.8)
    • Chapter 17 “Piwigo Export Tool” with an example
    • Chapter 18 “KML Export Tool” with example
    • And other chapters not described ("TO DO") on *export tools... *Google
Drive, Google Photos ...etc.)

Finally if you have the possibility of using the *import of camera *or that
of a* scanner* with the tools of digiKam (which I cannot do neither under
Windows nor under Linux Mint) I would be particularly happy that you resume
the complete description of these two subjects in accordance with the
current versions and with related screenshots.

Isn't it the spirit of the community (and the sport), "the main thing is to
participate..."

I thank you in advance for participating in this operation, the product
deserves it and the developers do not have enough time to document it, they
have to develop, maintain, improve, integrate, test, meet the needs and
finally distribute digiKam is a lot of work 🙏. I discovered digiKam on
October 11, 2022 and it is a unique product in the world because of its
multiple possibilities, I discover new ones every day...

*Important Note: *The documentation in French of the user manual on which I
am working is only a palliative waiting for the future evolution of the
Manual (it's only a transition to help the french community), today the
Manual in English needs to be completed and updated in accordance with the
product, and *with the documentary methods of the KDE team*, the
translations will come next, there is a time for everything ☺. I am
convinced that documentation at the height of this magnificent Open Source
product is needed)

Best regards to the whole digiKam community
Jean-Pierre,
For those who don't know me; I am 72 years old, retired from aeronautics,
French (hence my interest in translation…🤔), amateur photographer, I am
interested in everything from the moment it is realy interesting…and
digiKam is one of them ! 😊
