Maybe, maybe not. I don't think so, but I went to something similar,
it had to do which changing hard drives & computers...

My suggestion is what I did:

I went through the timeline, one year at a time > select all > item >
write metadata to selected files. This will either create new xmps or
update the existing ones and do it for the whole catalogue.

Then do your upgrade.

If there's any problem, start from scratch and all the metadata will
be read from the xmps.
