[digiKam-users] Digikam is not finding new items anymore

 Thank you, @sknahT.  The problem is that the new external hard drive is already in place, so 6.4.0 isn't seeing any files anymore...because the path has changed.  The files are now all in a different spot.  So I don't think writing anything within Digikam is going to work because it won't have the files to work with anymore.  
I think I can just add the new path, but then it will see them all as new images, and for sure the folders won't have thumbnail images on them.

Maybe, maybe not. I don't think so, but I went to something similar,
it had to do which changing hard drives & computers...

My suggestion is what I did:

I went through the timeline, one year at a time > select all > item >
write metadata to selected files. This will either create new xmps or
update the existing ones and do it for the whole catalogue.

Then do your upgrade.

If there's any problem, start from scratch and all the metadata will
be read from the xmps.
