[digiKam-users] Accessing foto collections from different machines?

What I do, I mount the shared folders where I keep my pictures, but I use
local databases. I store all my metadata in the pictures (or in sidecars),
and let each digikam installation to scan for changes at startup.

I access my collection through internet (via VPN), and the performance is ok
as long as I keep the database in my local hard drive.

That way, several family members can access the picture collection from
several computers/locations.
