[digiKam-users] writing sidecar files configuration

Hi all


just a question , in the settings I see we can configure the option 
write to sidecars files are

- write to item and XMP sidecar

- write to sidecar XMP only

- write to XMP sidecar for read-only item only

I was then wondering what means "write to XMP sidecar for read-only item 
only"

If I want to get metadata recorded in any file so it remains 
visible/readable when exporting the picture outside of digikam, which 
option should I use ?
