Replying to myself with the solution.
Following the remark from Gilles, I checked the libexiv2 version in
ubuntu 15.04. It is version 0.24 (package
libexiv2-13_0.24-ubuntu1_amd64.deb So I downloaded version 0.23
(package libexiv2-12_0.23-ubuntu1_amd64.deb) and installed it.
You can not uninstall 0.24, as there are many dependencies to it. So I
took a shortcut and removed the link from libexiv2.so.13 to
libexiv2.so.13.0.0 and replaced it with a link to
/usr/lib/libexiv2.so.12.0.0
ls -al libexiv2*
libexiv2.so.13 -> /usr/lib/libexiv2.so.12.0.0
libexiv2.so.13.0.0
I restarted digikam and this time I was able to scan all items. This
clearly proves a bug in libexiv2 0.24. Hopefully 0.25 arrives quickly
and solves this.
Thanks everyone for your help and especially Gilles!
Regards,
Bert
