Dear DK team,

Thanks for the great work you achieve with Digikam.

I subscribe to the request of being able to prevent digikam from scanning the albums. It should even be able to work offline for some modules of it. Indeed during the import step digikam creates and stores the thumbnails in db as well as the pictures' attributes. For tagging or geotagging purpose, one could go offline, document the pictures and when storage units are back, apply the changes or synchronise them. 

Is the use case somewhere in digikam's roadmap?

Not i'm know.

Perhaps Marcel can indicate if a tweak can be tune in code (scan is
hardcoded of course), and if hack work, restore an option in
Setup/Misc to turn on/off album scan at startup.
