Digikam does use the lensfun libraries (at least in version 2.9, but I 
think already before that), and the EF-S lenses are in the lensfun database 
(see file /usr/share/kde4/apps/digikam/lensfun/slr-canon.xml).

However, I can't get Digikam to show the EF-S lenses in the lens correction 
tab (even when telling it not to use the metadata).

So you'll have to check your version of the database, and perhaps file a 
bug report. Try also what happens if you untick the 'use metadata' 
checkbox.
