[Digikam-users] Exif problem in 0.8.1 & svn edition

I noticed some users report problems with the Exif parsing in 0.8.1 and newer releases. For instance in 
'properties' the 'EXIF' tab contains no data. Only the labels are shown. Also, the 'Album' 'date sort' is 
not based on the Exif properties of the containing images. There is no problem with the images since other 
applications (konqueror, gqview etc.) display the Exif data properly.

I can confirm these problems. I am running OpenSuse 10.1 with KDE 3.5.3. It makes no difference if I use 
the OpenSuse supplied Digikam packages (0.8.1) or a svn based build 
(http://www.digikam.org/?q=download/svn). In both cases the Exif parsing is buggy. Konsole output doesn't 
give any clues.
