We must take care not to mix local hardware and network storage. Network
storage is not well supported, and we dont have good support from the libraries
to make this easy. It's more or less a hack.
When you say UUID you mean a hardware partition. You can share it by physically
moving a USB hard disk, but it does not apply to network storage. So it's
always more or less local. We need some different identifier for network
storage, which we dont have atm, see above. 
I'm not sure you are aware that all normal collections are stored by UUID +
relative path in the db? That's the problem with the original report here, it's
not easily applicable depending on partition layout.
