Harcoding is just temporally. A better way is to have a mime type config like 
in digiKAm setup for example.

Yes it's different, but the result is the same: download all items from a 
folder.

A thumbbar vertically oriented is better if directory selector isn't used, 
else i had no found an another solution. If you have a better solution... 
Note that thumbar isn't resizable and put it in a SideBar isn"t a right 
place.

me too, but i use always histogram to select the better photo in a collection.  
Take a look in dppreview web site to have more information about to use 
histogram in this case.
