Krita has sent a great lil article! It's setup for the web already too! 

I'm running out of people on my list of article providers. Anyone has other pet projects they would like to hear from?

Krita -- Getting Closer to 2.4 (step by step)

<p>So, what&aps;s up with Krita? I haven&aps;t been able to write weekly development updates for <a href="http://krita.org.">Krita</a> for some time now, being too busy with work, triaging Krita bugs and hacking, so when I was asked to give a short update for the commit digest, I agreed with alacrity.

<p>We&aps;re moving forward to the <a href="http://community.kde.org/Calligra/Schedules/2.4/Release_Plan">2.4 release</a>, and that means nearly no big changes in recent times. Except for the merging of the Google Summer of Code projects by Srikanth, Dmitry and Siddharth, of course. The SIOX tool that Bruno is developing isn&aps;t quite done yet, but he will continue after his current round of examns. There&aps;s plenty left to do of course, quite a <a href="https://bugs.kde.org/buglist.cgi?cmdtype=dorem&remaction=run&namedcmd=krita-bugs">few bugs</a> to fix, even some regressions... We did select a new splash screen for 2.4 already:

<p>But on the whole, Krita has never been so functional. <a href="http://krita.org/component/content/article/10-news/100-ready-for-sending">The "Comics with Krita" Training DVD (+ comic book)</a> is very popular, the local post office is loving me! And we&aps;re getting to hear comments like:

It has a Painter style engine allowing color blending and mixing and papers/textures.<br/>
It has Photoshop like functions allowing image stamps and custom brushes.<br/>
It has a Mypaint style procedural brush engine allowing for brush texture experimentation.<br/>
It has a Harmony style brush engine, with those cool soft webbed drawing lines.<br/>
It has vector - pretty much everything (brushes, text, art)<br/>

<p>This really is a large part of why we&aps;re working on Krita. To see people love the application and do work with it. The remaining part is the fun we have hacking on it, of course!
