  The argument, when presented on IRC, was that maintaining an up-to-date form 
of Amarok would be a huge undertaking - we could not stop it, but anyone who 
wants to couldn't exactly expect much cooperation from our side...
  On top of that, they would have to *tell* people they had forked it, and 
thus make themselves look bad ("Why did they fork that, the Amarok website 
states clearly that any music store which follows these very simple 
guidelines can be included directly in Amarok?").
  So... Yes, sure, they /can/ fork it, but... that's really their own headache 
if they do :)
