Bangarang is a standalone app, right?  I would think plasma media
center would provide the ability to integrate media functionality
directly into containments.  So bangarang would be a more
comprehensive and dedicated program, while plasma media center would
give you access to the functionality you want straight from the
workspace.  Even android lets media applications provide homescreen
widgets, this would be a more comprehensive version of that
(especially if they share the same tags, ratings, playlists, etc ).
