Activites in Plasma Desktop vs. Activities in Plasma Active

Hi all,
reading Ivan's blog post about encrypted Activities
(http://ivan.fomentgroup.org/blog/2012/01/08/encryption-in-kde-sc/),
along with the comments to it, made me realize that Activities in Plasma
Desktop currently mean something quite
difficult to Activities in Plasma Active.
smlns (see above, comment 10) describes pretty will what Activities are
currently optimized for in PD imo, namely
"as an environment specifically optimized for a *type* of
project/task/etc.".
The environment is more important here than the actual data/resources.
Files associated with a specific project are usually
still stored in a specialized folder instead of an Activity. Of course, PA
Activities also contain environmental elements like
associated applications, but they show their full potential when they
contain the resources associated with a specific project.

These differences in the concepts might cause some confusion.
Personally, I'd be all for pushing for the PD Activities to offer the same
functionality as those in PA if the PA Activities become popular with
users, since I don't see why they should work less well on the Desktop.
But I don't know what the plans are in this area.

Regards,
Thomas
