strange freeze in active w/master kde-workspace

This is likely a hardware/driver issue :-(

Missing relevant info:

1) the hardware/driver (-> glxinfo)
2) /var/log/Xorg.0.log (after the incident)
3) gdb on rather X11 than kwin
4) Tried upgrading mesa?
5) Is compositing explicitly disabled at startup or do you keep running
into the test failure? (kcmshell4 kwincompositing)
5.1) in case it's not disabled: have you tried to "export
KWIN_DIRECT_GL=0" or "export KWIN_DIRECT_GL=1" (put a script into
~/.kde/env) - or just completely disabled it?

6) What decoration and tried another?
7) What graphicssystem? (compiled into Qt, environment)
8) I assume that just compiling kwin w/o any GL support would bypass the
issue?!
