the modifications i did in the plasma theme are in general on the direction of 
being less shiny, less glossy, more "natural world" than the desktop air 
theme, while keeping the general style (mostly because i really had no time to 
do a theme from scratch, is like 10x times the work ;) and a kind of 
continuity in general is nice

i think it's more a matter of high quality graphics, startup/memory 
consumption is quite a problem already, probably the current ksplashx with 
really good (an unobtrusive, as opposed to the current wallpaper) graphics 
would have a good effect already.
keyword should be simple simple simple

i liked the organic/not shiny(opposed to current mobile devices) we talked

btw, do you think a wallpaper in the lock screen is better than a solid color? 
so same splash screen/lock screen..
