indeed; we may wish to over time harmonize both the desktop and the tablet
theme a bit more. but that's certainly not something we need to do right away.
they already have enough continuity that they look like they belong together
and yet look great in their respective contexts.

if our target is tablets like the ExoPC and that is what we are showing it and
using it on, is this _really_ an issue? if we're trying to fit everything into
an ARM tablet with 128MB of RAM, ok, we may wish to profile things .. but we
haven't done that for _any_ of the existing code. i'm not sure it's wise to
start skimping on the splash screen and worying about a couple extra MB of
temporary usage there if it can give us something much more impressive
visually.

i was looking through our existing wallpapers and there are some very nice
panaromic scenery papers that look just stunning on the tablet. the Morocco
paper i was using also consistently got "wows" ... i just wish it was freely
redistributable...

continuity between splash and lock is probably more important than whether or
not there is a wallpaper :) whatever we do in one should get tied into the
other. so if we use a wallpaper in the splash, we should use the same in the
lock screen.
