I don't think there would be any problem if a new user directly starts
writing on the topic's page instead of his user page. The only thing
we have to make sure about is that when a new user registers,
everything is clear. The "new user journey" we were discussing in this
thread is a good starting point both for users who want to write on
their own page (for example because they want to learn how to edit)
and for those who want to write directly on the topic's page. If
everything is clear and the new user is somehow guided in his editing
experience we can avoid problems like the one you were talking about.
