First off, great debugging work. What follows is not a criticism, but really 
only making sure we didn't forget anything

What about files/links to lowercase images? Were them fixed? Do we have a bot 
that can check this?

Oh, also, what if the user writes a link to a lowercase image? does it get 
automatically converted?

I understand that it's still less broken than before, but it would be good to 
address this point too. :-)
