This isn't the same symptom, but it sounds like it's related to bug 489849

I can't reproduce this on Plasma 6.4.5 or built from git-master, but I'll leave
this open so others can try to reproduce it.
To help us understand better, can you attach a screenshot of the Overview in
the bugged state? A photo from your phone would be fine, or an actual
screenshot from the desktop.
