David:
Sorry to hear there is still an issue.
Yes, try another desktop environment. It is important to isolate the issue to
KDE or, to the contrary, determine that the issue is not just KDE.
The LXDE desktop /should/ already be installed. If not, then the IceWM DE S/B
installed. One of those is typically installed in the default installation so
if either are present, try it. The install(e.g., task-lxde) is quick and uses
minimal space if not present. A simple '' urpmi task-lxde '' will work to get
LXDE installed.
You can also use the GUI installer to select, e.g., task-xfce,
task-xfce-minimal, task-gnome or task-gnome-minimal, ...etc. depending on how
much space you have for the install. The task-xfce-minimal should be the
quickest among those and sufficient to ascertain if the problem is only KDE.
In addition, in a week or so, there should be a release of 2010.2(that's the
plan ... see http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/2010.2_Development ). It is unclear
what diff there will be but it might be prudent|wise to make a clean install of
the 2010.2 even if the difference is minimal.
Please post results.
