thanks for your explanation, but this was not the problem in my case.
I assume the KDM or Plasma has a problem with the radeonhd-driver, which was
installed for the ATI RADEON HD 4550 card.
I installed the ATI legacy drivers (ati-driver-installer-10-11-x86.x86_64.run),
and afterwards it worked. Normally I dont like the legacy drivers, as you have
to recompile them after every kernel change - the ATI-repo is mostly not up to
date and has often caused errors.

So, from this perspective, I have a workaround and can work again. But the
original problem is not solved with this.
