--- Comment #129 from Lucas Murray <lmurray undefinedfire com> 2009-10-14 11:56:15 ---
It seems some people misread Chani's comment. I read it as meaning that we
should split this bug report into multiple new ones as it seems that many
people are posting comments relating to different bugs in this one. This makes
it difficult to debug the original bug as there is a large amount of noise in
the report.
She is NOT saying that this report should be closed as nobody has fixed it yet.
She is NOT saying that losing the keyboard is acceptable.
The problem with this bug is that a large amount of people don't experience it.
This is especially problematic when the developers that work in the relevant
code--such as myself--cannot reproduce the issue at all. It's hard to find
broken code if it's not broken for you. >_<
We need to find a pattern between all users that experience the problem. The
issue could be relating to an application/toolkit grabbing the keyboard; it
could be a daemon grabbing the keyboard; it could be KWin grabbing the
keyboard; it could be from the keyboard focus being forced to a hidden window;
it could be due to obscure user interactions causing an interlock freeze; it
could be an X protocol race condition; it could even be the X server having a
random spaz attack. It's very hard to say at this point with the information
that has been presented.
