[Uml-user] In sequence diagrams how do I extend the object's lifeline?

Yes, I know that's a question straight from the faq. However the
solution offered there doesn't work for me. I've tried clicking up and
down the lifeline, double-click, middle-click, right-click, any type of
click you care to mention. Does this work for other people? Am I missing
something?
