[Uml-user] Exploding Umbrello

I tried to run umbrello using rpm version compiled for redhat 7.3. 
 Umbrello installed okay, but when I tried to run the app, it loaded the 
splash sceen, started drawing the umbrello application widget and 
crashed with the following messages:

as user:

$ /usr/bin/umbrello
DCOPServer up and running.
KCrash: crashing.... crashRecursionCounter = 2
KCrash: Application Name = umbrello path = <unknown> pid = 767
Alarm clock

As root:

# /usr/bin/umbrello
Session management error: Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the
