I'm preparing an untranslated screenshots.xmi, which will be added to
umbrello/doc as you mentioned.  With feature #340385 umbrello got two command
line tools named xmi2pot and po2xmi recently,  which makes it possible to use
the already established gettext based localization  support using pot- and po
files.
