These are .desktop files and this is correct place for name with description. 
Description has nothing to do with actual name. Another case is application 
name that appears in menus composed automatically by XMLGUI stuff 
(Help->About appname, Settings->Configure appname). 

Not translating Microsoft into smth funny is wrong example as nobody wants to 
translate Umbrello into smth similar to umbrella. Come on, don't you 
understand that using "Umbrello UML Modeller" as whole name (even if may look 
grand) looks as comic as if Konqueror guys would have named Konqueror to 
"Konqueror That Browses Everything" and Kate into "Kate THE Fscking Good 
Editor" and use this name through the application.  There's a place for 
simple name(=app's menu) and another place for name with description 
(=K-menu).
