new user trying to import data from csv - SOLVED

Answering my own problem,

I have discovered that the data was in fact imported, but lacking the
first field (title) every time I tried to do it. So there are many
apparently blank lines at the end of the file, which actually have all
the other fields imported. I have only to manually re-enter the titles
in each line and delete all the spurious lines of data.

I have two other questions, but will post them separately.
