If you have Amazon as a data source, there should be an Update Menu item already, right? It won't use the eg number though, just the artist and album title, so it might not be altogether accurate. You can update multiple entries at once, too, though I didn't really optimize that process.

That's definitely an option. It's an md5 hash but you don't even have to do that, any unique string will work as an image ID.
