That's really not true.  Please read the API documentation for the FileRef 
class (i.e. the one you're claiming has the above behavior).  There are two 
different ways to override the default file type detection and it 
specifically recommends doing so.


The first principle is that you must not fool yourself and you are the easiest 
person to fool.
