Yes, we now explicitely link against the fortran runtime libraries. These are
actually needed by R, but somehow do not always get resolved properly at
runtime. I'm not sure, why this library is not found on your system, as
usually, it should be a requirement of R, and hence already installed.
The solution should be to install the package containing libgfortran.
Unfortunately, I can't tell you the exact name for slackware. On debian
it's "libgfortran1".
